“Love, and do what you will” — St. Augustine of Hippo

First, a quick disclaimer. If it seems unlikely that we've ever met, you have no idea who I am, and yet I've suddenly befriended you for no readily apparent reason, here's the reason: You've posted things that I've found interesting, and I'd like to see more. I noticed you in one of the communities I watch, or caught your response to a friend's post, or I was looking through the list of people on an interests page. If you'd rather I didn't, just let me know. Thanks.

I've been a musician since childhood. My primary instruments are piano and electronic keyboards, though I've also been known to sing. I'm currently enrolled at MacPhail Center for Music, studying classical piano and composition. For the last several years I've also played doumbek and riq.

My current music project is Invocatio, creating and performing dark romantic music. Our influences are classical, modern, gothic, sacred, graveyard poets, Victorian secret societies... but we digress.

I've also had the pleasure of performing with:
  • Kumpania
  • Lojo Russo
  • Pirates of Dreamtime
  • The Court Revelers
  • Cigany
  • Ammala Middle Eastern Dance & Music
  • Ancient Sonic Libido
  • Felahi
Somehow, I've managed to get this far without recording anything of my own (although there are a few bootleg copies of Elder Gods Reggae Beach Party floating around). I do, however, appear on a few other albums thanks to my talented friends:
I was a performer at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival from 1986 to 2006, with roughly an even mix between music and street theater. Aside from various music groups mentioned above, I also rather enjoyed my years with Rasputin Ishmael Pox, P.A. (Publick Assassins).

I'm a member of International Association of Haunted Attractions, International Order of Horror Professionals, and an obscure secret society of magicians. Boo.

I'm married to a lovely woman who knows more about vampires than I do. When she's not belly dancing, staging dark events, or writing her blog, we spend time together watching horror movies, gaming, and plotting world conquest.

I also lurk around Tribe.net and MySpace, but most of my writing happens on LiveJournal.

By the blue taper's trembling light,
No more I waste the wakeful night,
Intent with endless view to pore
The schoolmen and the sages o'er:
Their books from wisdom widely stray,
Or point at best the longest way.
I'll seek a readier path, and go
   Where wisdom's surely taught below.
